Hi there smart drivers, Rick with Smart drive Test talking to you today about keeping your windshield washer fluid topped up.
I just completed a two-hour drive from Hope, BC over to Kamloops, BC and you can see the vehicle behind me is completely coated in salt spray from the road.
And there are no less than four stone chips on the windshield.
So if you get stone chips on your windshield, makes sure you get it into a glass shop as quickly as possible.
It costs about seventy dollars to have stone chips filled, and that'll prevent your windshield from cracking.
If the windshield does crack, it has to be completely replaced.
So stone chips on the windshield must be repaired as soon as possible.
Keep your windshield washer fluid topped up in the wintertime.
As you know--for some of you--the two-hour trip from Hope, British Columbia over to Kamloops, BC goes through some fairly high mountain passes.
And you can see the vehicle behind me here is completely covered in salt spray.
And I've stopped here at the fuel station to clean off the glass so I can proceed on my journey home.
That way I'll be able to see the other traffic on the roadway.
Right now I can't see anything in the mirrors.
And the lights on the front of the vehicle--as you can see--are completely covered over.
So that's what I'm going to do is get it cleaned off.

And as you can see here on the windshield, I did not get to the glass shop in time.
And there's a crack in the windshield now.
And it will have to be replaced at a cost of a few hundred dollars.
So that's why it's important that you get stone chips into the glass shop as quickly as possible to get the stone chips repaired to prevent a costly repair.
